I've had a variety of experiences that focused on creating warehouse solutions. In Jou Sun, we had a cost optimizing problem, where we needed to reduce the time it takes to pack and the number of staff required to perform packing based on x quantity of items within a set period of time. We had a large variety of SKU's (approx. 1000), spread across 4000 items, with each pack average 12-15 items, and we also had 3 temperature zones (ambient, chilled and frozen).

We created a solution that relied heavily on a web based scanning solution, which went through a multi-sort process. We also built statistical analysis panels for us to analyze optimal processes and people.

The solution allowed us massive visibility to our operational cost, and also gave us options to optimize our flow. From the management side, we're able to have a good idea on HR needs required to fulfill our packing flow. This helped us manage HR cost (packers were on contract), by making sure we don't "over-hire" on staff.
