I've been in the development field since 2002. I started working for startups and government between 2002 and 2007, branched into consulting between 2007 and 2015 (moved to HK in 2010), and then started my own startup with 2 other partners in 2015 - 2022 called Jou Sun (早安). My specialty is marrying my knowledge and understanding with business, and determining the best course of action from a technology standpoint that can allow the business to achieve its goals. Most IT companies will have a middle person that communicates with the customer and IT. This can be good, as long as the middle person has a good IT background. Their role is to understand your needs and what the IT team can provide. They should be able to balance your goals and objectives (i.e. cost control), with what the IT team can do. I've had a variety of experiences that focused on creating warehouse solutions. In Jou Sun, we had a cost optimizing problem, where we needed to reduce the time it takes to pack and the number of staff required to perform packing based on x quantity of items within a set period of time. We had a large variety of SKU's (approx. 1000), spread across 4000 items, with each pack average 12-15 items, and we also had 3 temperature zones (ambient, chilled and frozen).

We created a solution that relied heavily on a web based scanning solution, which went through a multi-sort process. We also built statistical analysis panels for us to analyze optimal processes and people.

The solution allowed us massive visibility to our operational cost, and also gave us options to optimize our flow. From the management side, we're able to have a good idea on HR needs required to fulfill our packing flow. This helped us manage HR cost (packers were on contract), by making sure we don't "over-hire" on staff.
