Crystal – Local Artist and Part-time Art Instructor
I am a local artist and part-time art instructor with four years of study experience in the United Kingdom. My artistic practice is deeply rooted in community engagement and participatory art.
Artistic Practice and Community Involvement
I have actively participated in various community art projects, with a particular focus on sand painting as a unique artistic medium. Collaborating with community organisations, businesses, and primary and secondary schools, I have led sand painting workshops and interactive art activities. I also conduct sand painting lectures to promote this art form and introduce it to students.
Beyond sand painting, I have contributed to mural projects for elementary schools supported by corporate partners, served as a harmonious sand painting instructor, and taught the making of incense sticks and cones, blending cultural craft with artistic expression.
Exhibition and Event Coordination
I have supported fellow artists in exhibition organization, notably serving as an event coordinator and exhibition planner for the 2022 "Solitary Bunny" exhibition at Parallel Space. In the realm of local media, I have been involved in curating and organizing events such as the 2022 Christmas Market and 2023 New Year Market at D2 Mall, enhancing community cultural experiences.
Social Advocacy Through Art
I am committed to raising awareness and fostering deeper societal reflection on mental health issues, particularly concerning people with mental illness. Through my art and community work, I aim to promote holistic development of body, mind, and spirit, while encouraging greater social understanding and empathy.
